چکیده
Abstract Although the main goal of Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) is to search for new transiting exoplanets, its data can also be used study already-known systems in further detail. The TESS bandpass particularly interesting limb-darkening effect stellar host that imprinted transit light curves, as widely phoenix and atlas models predict different profiles. Here we this by fitting curves 176 known exoplanetary observed TESS, which allows us extract empirical coefficients (LDCs) quadratic law but updated parameters (including ephemeride refinements) a by-product. Comparing our empirically obtained LDCs with theoretical predictions, find significant offsets when using tabulated LDCs. Specifically, u 2 show largest discrepancies depending on method derive them, reach up ? ? 0.2, average. Most those average disappear, however, if one uses SPAM algorithm introduced Howarth calculate instead. Our results suggest, stars cooler than about 5000 K, no methodology good enough explain effect; observe sharp deviation between measured predicted both order 1 , 0.2 cool stars. We recommend caution assuming perfectly known, particular these analyzing curves.

Limb-darkening and exoplanets II: Choosing the Best Law for Optimal Retrieval of Transit Parameters
Very precise measurements of exoplanet transit lightcurves both from ground and space based observatories make it now possible to fit the limb-darkening coefficients in the transit-fitting procedure rather than fix them to theoretical values. This strategy has been shown to give better results, as fixing the coefficients to theoretical values can give rise to important systematic errors which d...
متن کاملComputing Limb Darkening Coefficients from Stellar Atmosphere Models
We explore the sensitivity of limb darkening coefficients computed from stellar atmosphere models to different least-squares fitting methods. We demonstrate that conventional methods are strongly biased to fitting the stellar limb. Our suggested method of fitting by minimizing the radially integrated squared residual yields improved fits with better flux conservation. The differences of the obt...

Aims. The knowledge of how the specific intensity is distributed over the stellar disk is crucial for interpreting the light curves of extrasolar transiting planets, double-lined eclipsing binaries, and other astrophysical phenomena. To provide theoretical inputs for light curve modelling codes, we present new calculations of limb-darkening coefficients for the spherically symmetric phoenixmode...

The cause of the asymmetries in limb darkening reported by Neckel and Labs (1987) is discussed on the basis of new, stray-light-free observations, and found to be of instrumental origin.
متن کاملEstimations of orbital parameters of exoplanets from transit photometry by using dynamical constraints
The probability of the detection of Earth-like exoplanets may increase in the near future after the launch of the space missions using the transit photometry as observation method. By using this technique only the semi-major axis of the detected planet can be determined, and there will be no information on the upper limit of its orbital eccentricity. However, the orbital eccentricity is a very ...
